Crowdsourcing is based on the concept that the "we" is more accurate than the "I". Research has shown that a diverse group of independent people can often make better judgments than an expert and come to a more appropriate decision than one person may. This is why companies have boards of directors, trials have juries, and government has representatives.
Crowdsourcing is synonymous with democracy. Our country was founded using the concept, but it has not been expanded from governing to doing. Previously, government has had the role of saying who gets the right and rewards for attempting to accomplish objectives. RealGov.com is focused on everyone taking a piece of the problem that they can solve and bringing back a solution that everyone can benefit from. Don't confuse this with coming to an agreement by consensus, as there is a difference. Crowdsourcing doesn't take a subject and come to the "average" solution. Crowdsourcing listens to a variation of methods and inputs and comes to a decision based on those various points of view. An autocratic leader who makes decisions without input from others is wasting the intellectual assets that surround them. By creating a forum that collects opinions and inputs from a wide variety of sources that might otherwise go unnoticed, decision makers have more variety of solutions to pick from. RealGov.com brings the wisdom and experience of millions to bear on solving the problems President Obama so clearly brings to the forefront of our consciousness. Wisdom, experience and creativity have always been available, but the tools have never been available to make more effective use of our people. RealGov.com is America’s secret weapon, and it is a global one. Just as the American people played a major part in WWII, they will do the same in this economic crisis. The federal program being developed is geared to score-keeping, not identifying and implementing innovative approaches, providing clarity and transparency at the local level where innovation is available, nor facilitating getting the problems solved. Thus, there is no redundancy; the programs of the president and of RealGov.com support each other and both are needed.
